Kathy Thomas-Law received her early dance training from the Atlanta School of Ballet under the direction of Dorothy Alexander. She also performed with the Atlanta Ballet, under the direction of Robert Barnett appearing in many productions including The Nutcracker, Balanchine's Serenade, and Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty, both staged by David Blair of the Royal Ballet.
In 1964, Kathy received a Ford Foundation Scholarship to study with the National Ballet in Washington, D.C. under the direction of Frederick Franklin. While based in Washington, Kathy expanded her training by spending time in New York studying with such notable teachers as Alexandra Danilova and Robert Joffrey.
"Miss" Kathy, as she is known to her students, has been teaching dance since 1976. She has served as a founding director of the Southeastern Regional Ballet Association, The Dance Coalition of Metro Atlanta, The Gwinnett Council for the Arts, and a board member for the Gwinnett Council on Child Abuse.
Rhonda Oltjenbruns began her training at the Decatur School of Ballet under Marie Roberts. She joined the Gwinnett Ballet Theatre, performing in its very first Nutcracker. During these years, Rhonda studied under many teachers including Stanley Zompakos and Kathy Thomas-Law. She attended Brenau College where she majored in Ballet Performance and Early Childhood Education.
While in college, she danced with the Gainesville Ballet Company under the direction of Diane Callahan. She has performed such roles as Dew Drop, Snow Queen, Marzipan and Spanish in Nutcracker and the part of Carlotta Grisi in Pas De Quatre.
Rhonda began teaching dance as an assistant under Kathy Thomas-Law in 1980. After earning her degree in dance, she returned to the En Pointe School of Dance as a faculty member. Rhonda has taught at En Pointe for over 20 years. Rhonda continues to share the “Miss. Kathy influence” in her training of other dancers who have since become En Pointe faculty members themselves.
In 1992, along with Kathy Thomas-Law, Rhonda formed Praise In Motion, a Christian Dance Ministry. Rhonda’s mission as co-director of this company is to provide the highest quality dance training in a Christian atmosphere for the purpose of worship and ministry.
Rhonda teaches intermediate-level ballet and instructs and rehearses all levels of the company. Rhonda is also fully trained in Pilates Mat.
Erin Lee began her dance training at the age of three under the direction of Kathy Thomas-Law, former member of the Atlanta Ballet. She became a member of Praise in Motion in 1993 and has since performed for various church functions, several charitable causes such Atlanta Hunger Walk and Wellspring Living, and Praise in Motion’s concerts, The Gift and In His Name. During college, Erin continued her ballet training with En Pointe School of Dance and the University of Georgia.
After substituting for En Pointe and Walton Schools of Dance intermittently through her college career, Erin joined the staff of En Pointe in 2001. Erin has experience teaching ages three years to Senior Company Level for Praise in Motion, directing church based liturgical dance groups, and she has also enjoyed several choreography opportunities while serving as a senior member of Praise in Motion. Erin has experience in classical ballet, hip hop, modern, and jazz.
Emily Cheaves began her dance training at En Pointe School of Dance in January of 1998 under the direction of Kathy Thomas-Law. While she was just trying to find a simple hobby to fill time, she quickly fell in love with dance and developed a passion for ballet and the ability to worship the Lord through dance.
Emily has been an active company member with Praise in Motion since 2000 and has been privileged to dance at events such as the 2000 Salvation Army Millennial Congress, the annual Atlanta Hunger Walk, many church and mission functions, and at Praise in Motion’s own annual performances, The Gift and In His Name.
Emily is the office administrator for En Pointe and currently teaches ballet for all levels, ages 3 through Praise In Motion's Company. She has been blessed to have received the majority of her training under the direction of many wonderful Christian leaders in the dance community. God began this path by answering a simple prayer asking for direction and guidance.
“It is truly amazing to see God’s grace and faithfulness in our lives. He is able to do far more than we could ever imagine when you “Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed.” (Proverbs 16:3)
